Hot Out of the Kiln

I have been spending a good deal of time working on some new pieces for the upcoming California Gift Show.It is a lot of work to prepare for a trade show, but I think it's going to be worth the work! While I was enameling away tonight I decided to take some photos of the process since I tend to get a lot of questions about what enamel is.

A lot of people think that enamel is paint, but it is actually glass. There are different forms that it comes in, but I primarily use the powder form. Check out this photo of some pieces that have been sifted with powder enamel and are about to go into the kiln:

Now check out this photo of what they look like after they have been fired in my kiln!

Check out that glow!  These babies are HOT!
These photos are of the back of the pieces. Just wait until you see what I did on the fronts of these with my new Picture Pattern! Check back soon for those photos :)
